Charming and pleasant location surrounded... indeed dispersed between the Apennine mountains, crossroad of several regions, among which we mention only the Abruzzo and Molise . . If you look for it on the maps, you will never find it... Valleluce is a well kept secret, hidden in the mountains of lower Lazio! There are those who would like to leave, but when they leave they can not wait to come back ... there are those who would like to return but when back can not wait to leave! You are from Valleluce if you... • tell your friends "I will see you at the "Little fountain" when you want to meet them. • ask someone to meet at the bar, and they don't have to ask "but which bar ?!" • know that there is no need for sidewalks in Valleluce... • mention "Mimì" and know that you are not referring to the volleyball champion. • awake to the sound of the roosters and the tractors passing by the house at 4 AM. • notice immediately when a "stranger" comes to town. • know what "Panemmollo" is. • during "Ferragosto" and "Pasquetta" claim your spot by the river, the day before... • do your shopping at "La Bottega". • go on a hiking trip to "Le Cese" to make an excursion. • know that there is a male and a female doctor in town but they do not practice !!! • know what "Francesca and Liurz" dance is. • know what Gino preferred musical instrument is. • wait anxiously for the arrival of summer to see the landing of the Americans. • know who the person is only by their nicknames. • boast about the Roman Aqueduct and German Forts, but don't even know where they are. • as a child walked to school. • as a child kicked the ball against "Guffet" garage at least once. • can tell what time it is by simply listening to the tolling of the bells. • want to do some historical research... you go see Sabatino. • know that Sunday afternoon tradition is to "stroll the new road". • as a child you were afraid of a man called "gli aglio" ... • were ecstatic in front of the stage for John Bovi !!! • remember elementary school recreation began at 10:30am and ended at 12.30pm. • remember that elementary school lunch consisted of bread and sausage !!! • know that Father Valentino occasionally takes over the Bell tower speakers ... • know that fresh water comes from the public fountain and not from the refrigerator. • live in the suburbs but you are a few meters from town. • at least once walked to Canneto Sanctuary, but returned by car (with Granduomo!) • know that there is streaming water at "il Campo" (the field) but there is none at " il Lago" (the lake) !!! • know who they are referring to when they say "tomorrow is Saturday" !!! Poi una foto con il nostro cugino Francesco dell'Australia che e venuto a farci una sorpresa a Parigi. Non l'avevo mai piu rivisto da quando e partito. DISASTRO AMBIENTALE - ENVIROMENTAL DISASTER Cari amici ho gridato nel deserto. L’attentato contro il territorio è stato e continua ad essere perpetrato con feroce ostinazione e con metodica programmazione. Queste azioni di distruzione sistematica sono sotto gli occhi di tutti. Noi tutti sappiamo che la natura non si offende impunemente. Il Comune di Santelia ed i suoi abitanti residenti e non residenti pagano già un prezzo altissimo nel vedere dei luoghi di paradisiaca bellezza, trent’anni addietro, trasformati ormai in paesaggi lunari (come fu ben definito, di fronte a tanto scempio, il territorio delle cave, anni addietro, da un giornale della zona). E’ mio, infatti, personale convincimento che dopo la distruzione in atto delle sue colline, dei suoi oliveti, delle sue falde acquifere, il territorio di S. Elia si prepara a subire conseguenze ben più devastanti in materia d’impatto ambientale e la stessa zona "doc" per la produzione vinicola, il cui marchio ci è stato appena riconosciuto, sarà oggettivamente in grave pericolo. Per terminare questo mio grido di dolore vorrei rivolgermi a tutti i Santeliani, ad ogni singola persona, al di fuori di qualsiasi interesse o credo politico per chiedergli di dire, una volta per tutte "BASTA" " Lo dobbiamo dire insieme ". La scempio ambientale denunciato già nel lontano 1986 dal geologo IMPARATO di Roma con dovizia di particolari nelle sue perizie sul territorio di S. ELIA F.R. riguarda l’estrazione di materiale sabbioso nei cui confronti il cittadino Santeliano ha il dritto/dovere di chiedere agli Enti addetti alle concessioni ad ai controlli di legge se quanto previsto dalla normativa vigente (legge regionale n°27 del 05.05.93) è rispettato in materia di : perimetrazione ; tonnellaggio estratto; piani di coltivazione delle cave ; inquinamento e distruzione di falde acquifere ; norme paesaggistiche ; norme acustiche ; norme forestali.
